MAXIMIZING THE USE OF YOUR WEBSITE
From our experience the last 7 or so years, we noticed that the
modeling industry has been relatively slow to recognize the value of
the internet as a marketing and communications tool. Sabrina had
a website at age 14, predating many of the agencies she worked
for! Now, however, that situation is rapidly changing.
And in spite of the fact that many agencies now have their own website,
access to view the models is limited primarily to the agencies clients
and a few others that have VIP codes. I am aware of some agencies
that charge an annual fee to keep each models photo on the site, yet
the model herself does not have access to even confirm that her photos
are in fact posted! In these cases, how is a model to
self-promote? The answer is she can't. She has to refer
potential clients back to the agency who will then determine (read
control) if they will receive access to the website to view the
models. I recognize the safety measure for this procedure, but it
does constrict.
Most of the professional working models we meet in the course of a year
are struggling hard to make ends meet, and it takes most of what they
earn to do so. Granted the upper echelon don't have money
worries, but the vast majority of models must exercise frugality on a
daily basis. Therefore, starting a website from scratch, hosting
it, maintaining and updating the site, can become costly and
time-consuming to a new or rising model. Additionally, once a
model has her own website up and running, how are they going to
generate traffic to their own site? How are they going to market
themselves and the site to maximize their exposure?
Sure there are plenty of modeling websites on the internet, but the
vast majority of them allow any person to post a mere snapshot of
themselves and allow them to claim they are a "professional"
model. That is truly a slap in the face to every self-respecting
model who works in this industry. My apologies, but taking a
photo of yourself in the bathroom mirror and then posting it with a bio
claiming you do "erotic or exotic" modeling is not something the valid,
ethical professionals in the REAL modeling industry want to see.
It makes a mockery of our own hard work. Know that all models
applying to 360Flair are prescreened and subject to approval or denial
based on their level of professionalism and credentials. There is
a place for the wannabe models, but it's not at 360Flair.
And anyone who works in this industry knows that most photos are
retouched and/or photoshopped. And thank goodness for that,
because no matter how beautiful a model is, they aren't perfect and
things in photos sometimes do require fixing. We all know that no
one is going to book you simply off a photo, and if they are willing
to, let that be a huge red flag. If you do not have name
recognition in the industry or a large list of credentials, you may
generate interest off a photo but you are going to have to be seen in
person. Hard to believe, but people do stretch the truth when it
comes to their age, height, weight and size. Imagine that!
So you may open doors with an awesome photo or website, but the client
is ultimately going to want to meet you BEFORE they book you.
Many modeling websites do not allow nor offer the models posted on it
to gain access to the site via their own personal name. In this
industry, the only thing a model really has is their FACE and
NAME. This needs to be reinforced everywhere you possibly
can. If a client has to remember a big long web address complete
with backslashes and VIP codes, how often do you think they are truly
going to visit the site to view your photos? Exactly.
Never.
That's the beauty of a vehicle like 360Flair. If you meet someone
and give them a business card, it should have your name/face on one
side and your website info on the other. With 360Flair, that

reinforced points one and two - Your FACE and your NAME! As the
potential client views your page, everything they need to know about
you is right there for quick easy reference. Your headshot, your
best photos from your portfolio, your contact info, your agency, your

what they are looking for and if the answer is yes, they can call your
agency to have you sent over for a casting. Or they may decide
you aren't quite what they need... this time. So they save
your page as a favorite or maybe as their wallpaper, and the next time
they need a model with your look, you are the first one they think
of.
